Here are Ten Ways that Massage Therapy may Benefit You:

1.   Massage increases red and white blood cells.   Increased blood cell production helps to improve your immune system making your less susceptible to germs, viruses and bacteria.

2.   Massage improves circulation and increases lymph movement.  The oxygen capacity of the blood can increase 10-15% after massage bringing this vital element to all parts of the body.  This also increases the movement of lymph through tissues.  Lymph is a milky white fluid that drains impurities and waste away from the tissue cells.  Lymph movement is vital to good health.

3.  Massage provides more energy.  Research has verified that office workers regularly massaged were more alert, performed better and were less stressed.

4.  Massage therapy releases endorphins.  Endorphins are the body’s natural pain killers.  Endorphins are also associated with elevated feelings of euphoria and well-being.

5.  Massage improves areas of strains, sprains, fibrosis, spasms and scar tissues.  Increased blood flow of oxygen and nutrients to injured areas speeds up healing.

6.  Massage therapy can help reduce fat deposits.  With the proper diet and exercise massage can help restore the contour of the body by breaking up existing fat deposits or to keep new fat deposits from forming.

7.  Massage helps muscles to stay flexible.  Massage loosens contracted, shortened and hardened muscles.  Staying flexible allows athletes to train at a higher level and decrease the chance of injury.

8.  Massage provides an increased mobility and range of motion of joints.  A gentle stretching action to both the muscles and connective tissues surrounding and supporting the muscles helps keep these tissues elastic.

9.  Massage can enhance skin condition.  Improved function of the sebaceous and sweat glands keeps the skin lubricated, clean and cool.

10.  Massage provides better digestion and intestinal function.  Increased production of secretions and excretions can result in a higher metabolic rate.
